CSCI212 Interacting Systems – Lab Task 4 – Disk Scheduling

Hi All!

As part of the subject Interacting Systems I’m studying at the moment we are required to complete a lab task every week. Thus far they’ve all been reviewing the basics of Linux commands and creating virtual machines using VMWare. I’ll try to write a post about these labs in the near future but I thought today’s lab was especially interesting and worthy of it’s own post.

For this lab we had to create a C++ program which would simulate some disk scheduling algorithms. The algorithms are all fairly straight forward but I’ll provide a brief explanation as best I can.

This is the first post in a series to help both you and I prepare for technical coding interviews and to provide some information about basic programming structures. The questions we will be working through are based on the book Cracking the Coding Interview and are selected from common interview questions. I will be implementing the solutions in C++ as that is the language I am most familiar with.
