Recently we had a need to extract a large amount of documents from MOSAIQ and at first this job went to staff who add the documents to the patient records. As you would expect these staff members proceeded to do what they were familiar with and started using the MOSAIQ GUI to select the patient documents and export them one at a time. When we’re looking at 1000+ documents this is a ridiculous proposition and I knew there had to be a way to automate the process. So here is how we went about extracting documents from MOSAIQ.
Yesterday while at my 9-5 job we saw an error which read: “Can’t start CouchControl Service.”
This error was appearing for multiple users when opening MOSAIQ via a terminal session. It didn’t prevent MOSAIQ from opening but was still a little disconcerting all the same.

I have often been asked about how to create a MOSAIQ treatment backup report and so instead of writing emails to different people with instructions I thought I’d create a blog post about it and then direct people here!
In my 9-5 work I manage MOSAIQ which is the patient management application for cancer centres. As part of the application’s use we wanted to create a report of upcoming patient treatments which we could use as a backup plan. If the application is down for any reason we can simply print off this report, use it to treat our patients and then scan the records back into MOSAIQ when it comes back online. Unfortunately MOSAIQ doesn’t have this functionality built in so we had to set it up ourselves. Here’s what we ended up doing:
