Tennis Game Project

This week I have made an effort to return to some of my programming roots by completing an online course and building the associated project. In this case it was a simple tennis game project.

Note that this game doesn’t work on mobile or tablet currently as it uses the mouse for control 🙂

As you can see it is a very simple clone of the classic arcade game.

It’s written as a single page application and all the code is in a single file.

It uses the HTML5 canvas and some simple JavaScript.

The course I used to create the tennis game project was a free Udemy course called Code Your First Game: Arcade Classic in JavaScript on Canvas. I guess the name really says it all!

The course was quite basic with nice step by step instructions all the way through. It was also fairly short and could easily be completed within a day if you wanted.

I enjoyed the course and found it to be a nice reintroduction to simple web programming.

I’m planning to complete and upload many more web based projects so stay tuned!

In fact I may start the followup course to this one called How to Program Games: Tile Classics in JS for HTML5 Canvas. This one is a paid course but at only $30 its very reasonable. Keep watching to see my progress!

You can play a working version of the game here and view the source code from the page itself.

Enjoy! 🙂
